Sports Performer of the year 2010– Geoff Huegill

Geoff HuegillIn late 2008, a then 138kg Geoff Huegill stunned the swimming world when announcing he would make a comeback to the pool. Two years later, after shedding 45kg, Huegill became the gold medal winner of the 100m butterfly at the Delhi Games and jumped to second in the world rankings of male swimmers behind American powerhouse Michael Phelps.


Team Performance of the Year 2010, Australian Kookaburras

Australian KookaburrasTheir most recent triumph involved an 8-0 thrashing of host nation India to take the gold medal at the New Delhi Commonwealth Games. The Australian men's hockey team, the Kookaburras, can afford to laugh just as loud as their namesakes.


Coach Performance of the Year 2010, Wayne Bennett

Wayne BennettWayne Bennett confirmed himself as the greatest coach in premiership history by overseeing the Dragons first grand final win since 1979. The win, a 32-8 defeat of Sydney Roosters, came in just Bennett's second season with St George Illawarra and sparked euphoric scenes among long suffering supporters of the famous Red V. It was Bennett's seventh grand final success, adding to the six the mastercoach won in the 21 seasons he had charge of the Brisbane Broncos.


Young Performer of the Year 2010, Jessica Watson

Jessica WatsonAt just 16 years of age, Queenslander Jessica Watson stole the heart of the nation when she unofficially became the youngest person ever to sail solo around the world, non-stop and unassisted. Having covered 38,000 kilometres over 210 days at sea, an emotional Watson arrived back at Sydney Harbour on May 15, 2010, three days before her 17th birthday.


Performer of the Year with a Disability – Kurt Fearnley

Kurt FearnleyKurt ended the 2009 year on a high with his fourth straight victory in the New York marathon. Just days after taking out the NewYork event Kurt embarked on a gruelling 12-day, 96km journey through some of Papua New Guinea's most rugged terrain on the infamous Kokoda Track. It didn't stop in 2010 where the he began with a record breaking six-straight Oz Day 10km victory in Sydney.
