The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald in-conjunction with Colonial First State present the third annual Sports Performer Awards. These Awards aim to be one of the most prestigious prizes in Australian Sport – recognising the very best Performers from the previous 12 months. Unlike other major Awards, the Sports Performer of the Year Awards are voted for by Australia’s passionate sporting public.
The Awards consist of 5 categories and the winners will be announced at a special function to be held at Star City Casino on Wednesday, 25 November, 2009.

Sports Performer of the Year
All sports performances by individuals during the 12 month period commencing on 1 November 2008 and concluding on 31 October 2009.
- All sports considered for nomination including individual performances within a team.
- Nominees must be an Australian citizen.
- Minimum of six and a maximum of ten nominees selected by panel.
- Winner will be selected by the public through an on-line voting system.
- Voters will be restricted to one vote only as per T&C’s.
- Voting period will run from 30 October - 20 November, 2009.
Team Performance of the Year
All sports performances by teams during the 12 month period commencing on 1 November 2008 and concluding on 31 October 2009
- All team sports will be considered for nomination.
- Team must represent Australia or an area/club within Australia.
- Between four and eight nominees selected by panel.
- Winner will be selected by the public through an on-line voting system
- Voters will be restricted to one vote only as per T&C’s.
- Voting period will run from 30 October - 20 November, 2009.
Coach Performer of the Year
All sports performances by individuals during the 12 month period commencing on 1 November 2008 and concluding on 31 October 2009.
- All sports will be considered for nomination.
- Coach must represent Australia or an area/club within Australia but does not need to be an Australian citizen.
- Between four and eight nominees selected by panel.
- Winner will be selected by the public through an on-line voting system
- Voters will be restricted to one vote only as per T&C’s.
- Voting period will run from 30 October - 20 November, 2009.
Young Performer of the Year
All sports performances by individuals during the 12 month period commencing on 1 November 2008 and concluding on 31 October 2009.
