Amy Pejkovic

Amy Pejkovic

Amy Pejkovic has put high jump in the spotlight, following her stunning silver medal at the IAAF World Youth Championships at Bressanone, Italy, in July. The Cherrybrook athlete from Sydney cleared a new personal best of 1.85metres on her first attempt, to finish equal second with Russian Mariya Kuchina and just behind the victor, Alessia Trost of Italy, who cleared 1.87m. Pejkovic was so excited with the result she acquiesced to the winner’s request that she too completed a victory lap of the track. Pejkovic, a promising catwalk model who has already worked for Calvin Klein and Chanel in Australia, said combining athletics with modelling and with senior year studies at St Leo’s College, Wahroonga, was a constant juggling act. She is aiming for the London 2012 Olympic Games and a Parisian modelling contract. Jacquelin Magnay
